FAQ

MOST ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CBD

DOES CBD GET YOU "HIGH"?

Unlike THC, CBD is completely non-psychoactive (no negative side effects of “getting high”), and CBD can actually negate the psychological effects of THC. For our purposes and mission, we primarily focus on delivering CBD infused products such as tinctures, edibles, and topicals to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

WHAT IS CBD AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

CBD can be found naturally occuring in the the family of plants called cannabis. Hemp and marijuana both derive from the cannabis family. Although they have many similarities, there are several and distinct differences.

Cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol) naturally occur in hemp and marijuana, in addition to hundreds of other cannabinoids and terpenes (responsible for scents). Depending on which type of cannabis the cannabinoids are extracted from, you can achieve different yields of CBD and THC. Hemp extracts will contain a majority of CBD and very little THC verses marijuana extracts, which will contain more THC and little CBD.

IS CBD REGULATED?

CBD is a self-regulating market in which companies have their products tested by a third-party laboratory that is registered with the department of agriculture.  These lab reports are accessible to consumers.  The testing process involves checking for purity levels and other indicators of quality, safety, and legitimacy.

CAN I TAKE CBD WITH MEDICATIONS?

If you are currently taking medications, you should talk to your doctor before taking CBD.  Cannabidiol may interact with certain medications due to the fact that it suppresses a specific metabolite responsible for breaking down many commonly used medications.

CBD VS THC

Since the discovery of the endocannabinoid system in the early 1990’s, CBD has not been extensively studied until much recently. Below is a comparison chart of CBD vs THC and prospective uses that are undergoing clinical research with some promising results for future medical research and application.

WHAT IS THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM (ECS)?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) was first discovered in the early 1990’s when scientists investigated how THC, the main cannabinoid in marijuana, affected the body. Since this discovery they found that the human body expressed a vast and complex network of cannabinoid (CBD) receptors, and that the human body also makes endogenous CBD called anandamide that is critical in maintaining the central nervous system.

Two types of CBD receptors exist throughout the body. CBD1 receptors are expressed primarily in the brain (hypothalamus, hippocampus, and amygdala), the central nervous system, intestines, and many other important organs. Benefits from CBD1 receptor activation include relieving depression and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, decreasing intestinal inflammation, in addition to other benefits. CBD2 receptors are found in the peripheral nervous system throughout the body, which is critical in regulating functions of the immune system.

Overall, the ECS system is shown to promote overall homeostasis that can regulate all major systems in the body affecting everything from appetite, sleep, pain, inflammation, mood, memory, and reproduction. With so many receptors and potential uses and benefits for promoting overall health and function, the ECS and CBD remains one of the hottest research topics today.

CBD ISOLATE VS BROAD SPECTRUM VS FULL SPECTRUM

Cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol) naturally occur in hemp, in addition to hundreds of other cannabinoids and terpenes. Depending on the strain of cannabis and method used for extraction, the composition of the cannabinoid profile will differ. Unlike marjuana, which consists of much more THC than CBD, the hemp we grow yields more CBD than THC.

Full spectrum: Full spectrum CBD contains all terpenes, essential oils, and other cannabinoids, including CBD and some THC*. *Note that Our CBD products are derived from hemp, therefore our THC content is below the legal limits of 0.3% THC.

Broad spectrum: Broad spectrum is made by extracting THC from the full spectrum CBD. All essential oils, terpenes, and other cannabinoids are retained.

CBD Isolate: CBD isolate is when only CBD is extracted from the oils, which yields the purest form of CBD. Because the terpenes are also stripped from the isolates, there should be no taste or smell, which makes it preferable to people who do not like the taste of broad and full spectrum CBD.

WHAT ARE TERPENES?

Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic molecules that are present in Cannabis and a wide variety of plants. Terpenes account for aromas and flavors produced by the essential oils of many types of plants. Terpenes induce distinct effects on the human body that vary between different types. Along with providing their own independent benefits, terpenes work together with cannabinoids to produce an array of effects and therapeutic benefits known as the entourage effect.

WHAT IS THE "ENTOURAGE EFFECT"?

The Entourage Effect is the synergetic effect that results when various natural components within a plant interact together within the human body to produce different, often stronger, effects than caused by any one of those components used alone. In the case of Cannabis these various components include terpenes and cannabinoids.

DOES CBD SHOW UP ON DRUG TESTS?

Because hemp belongs to the same cannabis family as marijuana, many new users face a common concern when trying CBD for the first time. Hemp and marijuana both produce CBD, but they are classified differently under the law based on their concentration of THC(Tetrahydrocannabinol), the compound that gives users a “high”. Hemp contains very low levels of THC, versus marijuana which can cause psychological effects that makes marijuana illegal in some states. Drug tests are designed to detect only THC, not CBD. Depending on the type of CBD product used, only full spectrum CBD (although only has trace amounts of THC) can show positive for THC if used over a long period of time. CBD isolate and broad spectrum CBD do not contain any THC  and will not test positive for THC in drug tests. While full spectrum can deliver enhanced benefits from the full cannabinoid spectrum (the “entourage effect”), the possible presence of THC is a risk that should be avoided if you will be regularly drug tested.  f Cannabis these various components include terpenes and cannabinoids.

IS CBD LEGAL?

In 2018, the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (aka the 2018 Farm Bill) removed hemp as a Schedule 1 substance (aka the illegal drug classification) and reclassified it as an “agricultural commodity”, thereby making it legal. The farm bill also legalized the sale, transportation, and possession of hemp-derived CBD products. As long as the CBD product is derived from hemp, it is legal in all 50 states, and the hemp must contain <0.3% THC, which all of our CBD infused products are in compliance.

WHAT IS THE BEST CBD DOSAGE?
Everyone is Different Dosage specific for you. The recommended starting dose should be based on your body weight. As with most medications, individuals with more body mass will require more CBD to experience its effects.

A good starting point is to take 1-6mg of CBD for every 10 pounds of body weight.

In a 1000mg bottle of CBD tincture, there are 30mls of oil. 1000mg/30ml =33.3mg/1ml

For a 130 pound person: 1 to 6mg x 13 = 13mg to 78mg CBD for starting dose = about 1/3ml to 2 & 1/3ml. Start at a small dose and increase gradually to achieve the desired effect.

Like with starting any new prescription medications or supplements, consult your healthcare provider to discuss potential drug interactions if you are on other prescription medications, if you are nursing or pregnant, or have a medical condition.
WHICH DELIVERY METHOD IS BEST FOR ME?

CBD comes in a variety of delivery methods, and each one can be useful in its own way.  It really comes down to your preferences, and how you’d like to maintain a daily hemp routine.  We encourage you to give multiple delivery methods a try to find one that suits your needs.

CAN I GIVE CBD TO MY PETS?

You should only give your pet a CBD product made specially for them, such as the products found in our Pets section.  Hemp is generally fine for pets, but only in specific milligram strength amounts.  Further, many CBD products made for humans contain ingredients that are unsafe for cats and dogs, such as certain essential oils.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE CBD?

Ideally, you should take CBD on a daily basis.  This provides the endocannabinoid system with the support it needs to fully perform its job of balancing out the processes of the body.  Daily use is recommended by most hemp experts for this reason.

CAN I TAKE MORE THAN ONE CBD PRODUCT PER DAY?

You can take multiple CBD products in one day.  Cannabidiol and other hemp compounds are nontoxic to the body, and generally two doses of CBD in two different forms is perfectly acceptable.  If you’re just starting out with CBD, you should stick to one product for a few weeks before adding a new one to your routine.

IS IT OK TO TAKE CBD FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME?

Cannabidiol can be taken daily for years without any known consequences.  Hemp has been widely studied, and it’s been found that long-term use is not associated with any ill effects.  Therefore, you can take CBD on a daily basis for as long as you see fit.

IS CBD APPROPRIATE FOR CHILDREN?

If you wish to give a hemp product to a child, you must speak to their pediatrician.  It’s important that the CBD you give your child comes in a lower dosage amount or milligram strength to reflect their body weight.  If your child has any negative reaction to CBD, seek medical attention immediately.

SHOULD CBD BE ORGANIC?

Organically grown hemp yields superior CBD products.  Organic growing methods avoid pesticides and other potentially toxic substances that can be harmful to the body and destructive to the stability of the hemp compounds.  Almost all CBD products on the market come from organic hemp.

HOW SHOULD CBD BE STORED?

CBD products made with a hemp extract can degrade after two years, and CBD flower products after six months.  Keep your CBD carefully sealed in an airtight container, and find a cool, dark, and dry place when not in use.  A cabinet, closet or drawer is ideal.

WHAT IS A TINCTURE?

A CBD tincture is also known as a CBD oil.  It comes in a dropper bottle for easy pouring.  It contains cannabidiol extract and is administered below the sublingual tissue.

CAN I USE A TINCTURE DAILY?

You can use a CBD tincture daily.  Most people take a tincture on a daily basis.  It can be taken at any time of day.

WHAT IS IN A TINCTURE?

A CBD tincture must contain a hemp extract that has been diluted in a safe carrier oil such as MCT oil or hempseed oil.  It can also contain flavoring ingredients or additional active ingredients like melatonin.  CBD tincture formulas will vary slightly from company to company.

WHEN DO TINCTURES TAKE EFFECT?

Most people report feeling the effects of a tincture between 15 and 30 minutes after taking it.  The actual length of time will vary from person to person.  Note that the effects are very subtle.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF A TINCTURE LAST FOR?

Most people find that they feel the tincture at work for up to 6 hours.  Generally, it lasts for about 4 to 6 hours depending on dosage.  Again, your specific experience will vary.

HOW MUCH OF A TINCTURE SHOULD I TAKE?

You should always follow the instructions on the label, as these offer accurate dosage guidelines.  Almost always, a tincture dosage is a full dropper of oil.  You can consider increasing or decreasing your dosage amount if you feel this will produce a better experience.

HOW SHOULD I STORE MY TINCTURE?

CBD tinctures should always be kept in a cool, dry and dark place.  A cabinet, drawer or closet is ideal.  Make sure that the bottle is always completely sealed.

WHICH MILIGRAM STRENGTH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

Most people start with a 1000mg tincture, which offers 33 milligrams of hemp extract per dose.  Some people choose to go with a lower amount out of caution.  Higher amounts are also acceptable, and best suited for those with more severe needs.

CAN I TAKE A TINCTURE WITH ANOTHER HEMP PRODUCT?

You can certainly take a tincture alongside another hemp product.  Cannabinoids are nontoxic to the body, and generally speaking, taking two doses in two different forms is perfectly fine.  However, if you’re new to hemp, it’s best to stick to just one product for a few weeks.

ARE TINCTURES BIOAVAILABLE?

CBD tinctures are bioavailable, meaning that they are likely to effectively deliver active hemp compounds into the body.  They are less bioavailable than inhalable products due to the fact that the sublingual tissue is slower to absorb the compounds.  But, the effects tend to be stronger than those associated with edibles.

WHAT IS A CBD ISOLATE TINCTURE?

A CBD isolate tincture contains a hemp extract that consists solely of cannabidiol.  This means that the cannabidiol compound has been isolated from the rest of the chemical composition of hemp.  It does not contain terpenes or any additional cannabinoids.

WHAT IS A FULL SPRECTRUM TINCTURE?

A full spectrum tincture contains an extract that offers every compound that naturally occurs in hemp.  Therefore, full spectrum tinctures contain a full array of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and nutrients.  There is a trace amount of THC in full spectrum hemp that is both legal and non-intoxicating.

CAN I USE A TINCTURE IN A WAY THAT'S NOT SUBLINGUAL?

CBD tinctures are intended for sublingual use, primarily.  But, you can use them in other ways as well.  You can add a dropper of oil to food or cook with a CBD tincture to make your own edibles.  Tinctures also work topically.

CAN I GIVE A TINCTURE TO MY PET?

You should only give a CBD tincture to a pet if the formula is made specifically for cats and dogs.  We offer CBD tinctures made just for pets, which contain ingredients and milligram strength levels that are appropriate for their bodies.  Do not give your pet a CBD tincture made for human consumption.

ARE TINCTURES INTOXICATING?

CBD tinctures are not intoxicating, as cannabidiol is a non-psychoactive substance.  Delta 8 THC tinctures, which we do offer, are mildly intoxicating.  If you wish to avoid intoxication, any of our CBD tinctures are for you.

WHAT IS AN EDIBLE?

An edible is a food item that contains hemp extract.  It is meant to be ingested, and comes in a wide array of forms including flavors, strengths and more.  Many people consider capsules and supplements to be hemp edibles as well.

HOW MANY EDIBLES SHOULD I TAKE?

All edible products should come with clear dosing instructions on the label.  Follow these instructions carefully for the best results.  Most often, one or two pieces is considered a standard dose.  The average milligram strength for daily use is 10 to 25 milligrams.

CAN I TAKE MORE THAN ONE EDIBLE DOSE IN A DAY?

You can take more than one edible dosage per day if you feel that this will benefit your routine.  Because edibles promote long-lasting effects, you will likely want to space the doses out between several hours.  Taking two doses at once may result in feelings of grogginess among more sensitive individuals.

CAN I TAKE EDIBLES WITH OTHER HEMP PRODUCTS

You can definitely take a CBD edible along with another type of hemp product.  You can take multiple doses of cannabidiol per day because the compound is nontoxic to the body.  As a beginner, however, one type of product per day is probably best.

ARE EDIBLES INTOXICATING?

Edibles are non-intoxicating unless they are made with a high-strength delta 8 THC extract.  We do offer delta 8 edibles, but they are clearly labeled as such so that you can know what you’re looking at.  CBD edibles are not intoxicating because the hemp plant in its natural form is not psychoactive.

WHAT'S IN AN EDIBLE?

Edibles can contain any number of ingredients at the discretion of the manufacturer.  Plainly speaking, they contain hemp extract and food ingredients including flavoring.  The ingredients of an edible should be clearly listed on the package.

WHY ARE GUMMIES SO POPULAR?

Gummies are the most popular form in which edibles arrive.  They’re delicious, easy to take and satisfying to the sweet tooth.  Other forms do exist, such as chocolates, but most people prefer gummies.

ARE EDIBLES VEGAN?

Not all CBD edibles are vegan, but some are.  A lot of gummies on the market are made with gelatin, which is an animal product.  Vegan gummies exist and are almost always labeled as such.

WHAT ARE BROAD SPECTRUM AND FULL SPECTRUM EDIBLES?

Broad spectrum edibles contain every compound in the hemp plant except for THC, which has been removed.  Therefore, they are rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and other useful compounds.  Full spectrum edibles contain every compound including the trace amount of THC for a complete hemp experience.

SHOULD EDIBLES BE TAKEN WITH FOOD?

Edibles may be taken with or without food.  They are not known to cause digestive upset.  Taking edibles on an empty stomach may promote faster-acting effects.

CAN I GIVE AN EDIBLE TO MY CHILD?

You should not give an edible to a child without explicit authorization from their doctor.  Our children can likely tolerate cannabinoids easily, but it is not acceptable to give hemp to a minor unless a medical professional specifically approves of it.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FEEL THE EFECTS OF AN EDIBLE?

It can take 1 to 2 hours to feel the effects of an edible.  This is because edibles must travel through the digestive system before getting released into the bloodstream.  The exact length of time will vary from person to person.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF AN EDIBLE LAST?

The effects of edibles can last for between 6 to 8 hours.  The amount depends on dosage and other factors including one’s unique metabolism.  However, they are the longest-lasting form in which you can buy CBD in terms of the length of effects.

ARE DELTA 8 EDIBLES LEGAL?

Delta 8 edibles are legal in all but 11 states: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island, and Utah.  We cannot ship delta 8 edibles to these eleven states.

WHAT DOES MELATONIN ADD TO AN EDIBLE FORMULA?

Some edibles are enhanced with melatonin.  Melatonin is a natural sleep-inducing hormone, which means that these edibles are for nighttime use.  You should always talk to your doctor before using melatonin for sleep.

WHAT IS A TOPICAL?

A topical is any hemp-based product that is applied to the skin.  Topicals work differently from products that are taken internally, and they are extremely easy to use.  Topicals come in various forms, including salves, balms, creams, skincare products, bath bombs and more.

HOW DO TOPICALS WORK?

Topicals absorb through the skin efficiently and effectively.  This allows the cannabinoids in hemp to bind directly with local cannabinoid receptors in the skin, muscles, and joints.  Therefore, they are great for targeting specific areas of the body that need extra attention.

ARE TOPICALS LEGAL?

Hemp topicals are legal because they are made with the hemp plant, which is legal under federal law.  They are non-intoxicating, and do not contain any illegal compounds.  Hemp topicals on the market contain within the legal limit of THC, which is 0.3%.

HOW OFTEN CAN I USE TOPICALS?

Topicals can be used as often as you’d like to use them.  They do not seem to affect the internal bodily system, which means that generally, you can be more liberal with your usage.  Most people use them twice per day.

CAN I USE TOPICALS WITH OTHER CBD PRODUCTS?

Topicals can be used with other CBD products.  They are not associated with any unique effects on mood or mental state, and therefore shouldn’t increase the likelihood of grogginess that comes with taking a higher amount of cannabidiol.  Many people use topicals alongside an internal method like a tincture or edible.

WHERE SHOULD I APPLY A TOPICAL

Topicals should be applied to the area of the body that needs relief.  It will apply directly into the deep tissue below, while also delivering active effects to the skin.  Topicals can be applied anywhere on the body.

WHICH TYPE OF FORMULA IS BEST FOR ME?

Topicals come in all kinds of unique formulas with their own individual sets of ingredients.  We offer a wide array of topical formulas that are all made with exceptional quality standards.  Look through the different formulas we offer to find one that works with your unique needs as well as your preferences.

HOW DO CBD BATH BOMBS WORK?

CBD bath bombs are a unique type of personal care item for those who want to enjoy a relaxing soak in a tub.  The bath bomb dissolves into the water, allowing the water to be infused with hemp compounds.  They absorb through the skin as you sit in the water for a more widespread approach to transdermal absorption of cannabidiol.

WHAT IS CBD SKINCARE?

CBD skincare is a unique category of topicals for benefiting the skin of the face.  You can find serums, creams and other skincare products that are all infused with hemp compounds.  CBD skincare can be used by anybody and allows cannabinoid receptors to bind to cannabinoids in the skin’s many layers.

ARE CBD TOPICALS IRRITATING?

CBD topicals are not associated with irritation.  Hemp itself is not known to be irritating.  But some people may have sensitivities to specific ingredients other than the hemp extract in a topical.  This is especially true for those sensitive to fragrances.

WHAT OTHER ACTIVE INGREDIENTS ARE IN TOPICALS?

Some topicals may contain additional active ingredients for offering relief.  The most common one is menthol, which offers a cooling effect to the skin and muscles.  Other ingredients you may find include essential oils, which may offer distinctive properties to the skin and deep tissue.

CAN TOPICALS HELP ME WITH STRESS?

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

CAN I APPLY A TOPICAL TO MY CHILD'S SKIN?

It’s likely fine to apply a CBD topical to a child’s skin.  However, you may wish to consult with their doctor beforehand.  Be mindful that many skin conditions and pain conditions require a more extensive type of care.

CAN I USE A TOPICAL ON MY PET?

CBD topicals should not be used on a pet unless the formula was made specially for pets.  Many topicals we use contain essential oils that are toxic to cats and dogs.  Pets may try to lick these products off of their fur, which can be dangerous.

HOW QUICKLY DO TOPICALS TAKE EFFECT?

Topicals can take effect within 15 to 30 minutes, depending on how quickly the formula absorbs into the body.  The results can vary from person to person.  Typically, the effects last for up to 6 hours.

WHAT IS FLOWER?

CBD flower, also known as hemp flower, is the raw and natural version of the hemp plant.  It is simply the flowers derived from the plant, which contain the full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes and other useful compounds.  Flower is unprocessed, making it highly appealing to many hemp enthusiasts.

WHAT ARE LOOSE BUDS?

Loose buds are a form of CBD flower that you can purchase.  Loose buds come in a pouch or jar and contain whole flower buds of hemp.  These can be broken up and utilized in a number of ways, including smoking and cooking.

WHAT ARE PRE-ROLLS?

Flower pre-rolls take the flower and grind it up before rolling it into paper.  Pre-rolls are for smoking and are easy to use.  They come in a variety of popular strains.

WHAT'S IN CBD FLOWER?

CBD flower contains nothing but pure hemp, as no other ingredients are added.  CBD flower is a naturally full spectrum product and contains a trace amount of non-psychoactive and legal THC.

WHAT IS DELTA 8 FLOWER?

Delta 8 flower is CBD flower that is enhanced with delta 8.  A delta 8 extract is infused into the flower to give it extra properties associated with the delta 8 compound.  Therefore, delta 8 flower is mildly psychoactive.

WHAT IS A STRAIN?

A strain is a breed of the hemp plant.  Each strain has its own specific configuration of terpenes, which are secondary compounds that contribute to the effects of hemp.  You can find a wide array of strains, each promoting specific effects that are desirable in their own way.

WHAT IS INDICA?

Indica strains are associated with being more relaxing.  They contain higher levels of myrcene, a calming terpene found in the hemp plant.  Indica strains are great for evening use.

WHAT IS SATIVA?

Sativa strains are more uplifting due to their lower myrcene content.  They can be good for daytime use and are less likely to make you feel sleepy.  Sativa strains are widely available.

WHAT IS A HYBRID?

Hybrid strains are a cross between sativa and indica strains.  A breeder takes an indica parent and a sativa parent and uses them to create a hybrid offspring.  They offer a more balanced type of experience.

HOW CAN I CHOOSE A STRAIN FOR MYSELF?

Choosing a strain requires that you know whether an indica, sativa or hybrid is what you’re looking for based on your needs.  From there, you can research the strains that are available to find out about their specific effects.  Many people choose to explore a variety of strains to see how each one feels in their body.

HOW LONG DOES FLOWER LAST?

CBD flower is good for up to six months.  After this time, its chemical compounds may lose their potency.  CBD flower should be kept in a cool, dark and dry place in an airtight container to last for as long as possible.

WHAT ARE THE METHODS FOR USING FLOWER?

CBD flower can be used in a few ways.  It can be smoked with a pipe or rolled into papers.  It can be used in a vaporizer device intended specially for flower.  It can also be cooked with, as many people make edibles by infusing CBD flower into butter.

CAN I USE FLOWER WITH ANOTHER CBD PRODUCT?

You can use CBD flower with another CBD product.  The compounds in hemp are nontoxic to the body, and generally, two doses per day are fine.  If you’re new to CBD, start with just one type of product for a few weeks.

IS FLOWER LEGAL?

CBD flower is federally legal as of 2018, when hemp was considered a legal substance.  However, some states have outlawed it.  Currently, CBD flower may be illegal in Idaho, Mississippi, New Hampshire, South Dakota, and Washington DC.

CAN FLOWER CAUSE ME TO FAIL ADRUG TEST?

CBD flower is no more likely to result in a failed drug test than any other type of CBD product.  CBD is not tested for on standard drug tests, and the amount of THC in hemp is too low to trigger a positive.  However, in rare cases, a person may end up with hemp flower that has a higher THC level.  Still, this is incredibly unlikely.

IS IT LEGAL TO GIVE A PET CBD?

Yes, it is legal to give CBD to pets.  There are simply no laws stating otherwise.  The hemp plant is federally legal and does not discriminate between species.

HOW ARE PET CBD PRODUCTS DIFFERENT FROM HUMAN CBD PRODUCTS?

CBD products made for pets are different in two ways.  One, they contain ingredients that are safe for pets, and avoid ingredients like essential oils which may be toxic.  Secondly, they contain appropriate milligram strength amounts for their smaller bodies so that they receive the perfect dose of CBD for their needs.

HOW CAN I KNOW THAT IT'S SAFE TO GIVE MY PET CBD?

Hemp has been tested on cats and dogs with promising results.  It is important that you talk to a veterinarian before giving them CBD to make sure that it does not conflict with any underlying health conditions or medications that they are taking.  Your vet can offer the best guidance.

HOW DO PETS PROCESS CBD?

Pets have endocannabinoid systems like humans, as was discovered decades ago.  Cats and dogs can therefore utilize cannabinoids like CBD just like we do, by allowing the cannabinoids to bind to receptors throughout the body to regulate specific bodily actions.

WHAT IS CBD GOOD FOR WHEN IT COMES TO PETS?

Generally, it appears that CBD has the same effects on pets that it does on humans.  This is because of the endocannabinoid system, which balances every system of the body using cannabinoids.  Many pet owners give their cats and dogs CBD for mood, energy, appetite and more.

CAN PETS TAKE CBD DAILY?

Cats and dogs can take CBD on a daily basis, just like we can.  Their bodies are designed to process cannabinoids in an efficient manner.  Administering it to them daily may be the most effective way to manage their routine, as it ensures that they maintain active levels of cannabinoids at all times.

WHAT FORMS DOES CBD COME IN FOR PETS?

CBD comes in a few different delivery methods on the pet market.  Treats, tinctures and topicals are the most common.  Topicals are suited for localized issues, while treats and tinctures work internally.

HOW CAN I KNOW WHAT KINDS OF CBD PRODUCTS MY PET WILL LIKE?

We know that pets can be picky when it comes to what they take each day.  That’s why we offer a multitude of CBD products for your furry friends, including treats and tinctures.  Be open to experimenting with different products before finding the one that your pet enjoys the most.

WHAT IF MY PET DOESN'T LIKE THE TASTE OF CBD?

In most cases, pets have no problem with the natural taste of hemp.  But, some pets are pickier than others.  That’s why we carry flavored CBD products that come in tastes that cats and dogs love.

DO CBD PRODUCTS FOR PETS CONTAIN TERPENES?

Most CBD products intended for pets contain naturally derived hemp terpenes along with cannabinoids like CBD.  Terpenes, like cannabinoids, are easy on your pet’s body, and work synergistically with cannabinoids to offer more effectiveness.  Full spectrum and broad spectrum pet products will contain terpenes.

IS CBD INTOXICATING TO PETS?

CBD is non-intoxicating to cats and dogs.  The trace amount of THC in hemp is still too low to have an intoxicating effect on your pet.  Also, cannabidiol on its own is not psychoactive in any way.

CAN MY PET OVERDOSE ON CBD?

There have not been any recorded instances of overdoses caused by pets taking too much CBD.  Cannabidiol is nontoxic to all mammals, and so it doesn’t accumulate in toxic levels.  But, if your pet does have any type of side effect from taking CBD, you should seek medical care immediately.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE MY PET PER DOSE?

CBD products made for pets come with clear dosing instructions on the package.  Follow these instructions carefully to ensure that your pet is taking the proper amount of hemp on a daily basis.  The dosing amount will vary between products.

WILL CBD MAKE MY PETS SLEEPY?

In the proper dosage amounts, hemp products should not cause your pet to be groggy or sleepy.  But higher-than-average doses may cause this effect.  Some pets may even be particularly sensitive to this effect even in standard doses.  If your pet appears to react this way to hemp, consider lowering their dose.  Ask your veterinarian for more personalized guidance.

CAN MY PETS USE DELTA 8?

A pet should never be given delta 8.  Delta 8 is intoxicating, which may have dangerous effects on your pet’s nervous system.  Cats and dogs should not be given intoxicating substances, as it is both dangerous and unethical.

WHAT IS DELTA 8 THC?

Delta 8 THC is a minor cannabinoid in the hemp plant, found in about 0.1% of the entire plant’s chemical composition.  It’s a derivative of delta 9 THC, as delta 9 is converted into delta 8 as it ages.

HOW ARE DELTA 8 PRODUCTS DIFFERENT FROM CBD PRODUCTS?

Delta 8 THC products are similar to CBD products, but with one major difference.  They use delta 8 extract as their active ingredient rather than cannabidiol.  They are intoxicating as well, as delta 8 THC is a mildly psychoactive compound, while CBD is not.

CAN DELTA 8 CAUSE ME TO FAIL A DRUG TEST?

Delta 8 may result in a failed drug test, depending on your personal usage.  Delta 8 THC seems to trigger the release of THC-COOH, the same enzyme released when taking marijuana.  It is this enzyme that is tested for in standard urine tests.

WILL THESE DELTA 8 PRODUCTS GET ME HIGH?

All of the delta 8 THC products we carry are psychoactive, because delta 8 is a psychoactive compound.  The high you experience will likely be relatively mild, but you should still avoid driving after you take it.  Delta 8 is about 70% as intoxicating as delta 9 THC.

HOW LONG DOES THE HIGH OF DELTA 8 LAST?

How long the high of delta8 lasts depends on the dosage as well as the delivery method you’ve taken.

  • Inhalable products can produce a high that lasts for about an hour or two.
  • Tinctures, you may feel the effects for up to 6 hours.
  • With edibles, the effects can last for 8 to 10 hours.
ARE THESE DELTA 8 PRODUCTS LEGAL?

Delta 8 THC is federally legal. This is because of the Farm Bill which passed in 2018, which made all hemp compounds legal except for delta 9 THC.  Delta 8 is, however, illegal in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Idaho, Iowa, Mississippi, Montana, Rhode Island, and Utah.

CAN I DRIVE AFTER TAKING DELTA 8?

You should not drive while feeling the effects of delta 8 THC.  Because it’s an intoxicating compound, it can impair your driving.  Wait for the delta 8 to wear off before operating a vehicle.

IS DELTA 8 THC INTOXICATING?

Delta 8 is mildly intoxicating.  It’s about 70% as intoxicating as delta 9 THC.  The high it produces is commonly described as calming and uplifting, and not as consciousness-altering or paranoia-inducing.

CAN I GIVE DELTA 8 PRODUCTS TO MY CHILD?

It is illegal to give delta 8 to a child.  Children cannot tolerate the psychoactive effects of delta 8 THC.  Only CBD can be given to your child, under a doctor’s guidance.

WHAT IS DELTA 8 FLOWER?

Delta 8 flower is raw hemp flower that has been infused with a delta 8 THC concentrate.  It’s used like ordinary flower, as it can be smoked, vaped or even cooked with.  Can be intoxicating, as delta 8 THC is a psychoactive compound.

WHAT FORMS DOES DELTA 8 COME IN?

Delta 8 comes in the same delivery methods as CBD.  You can find flower, tinctures, edibles, concentrates and more on today’s delta 8 market.  The delivery methods allow the compound to absorb in the body in the same manner for similar onset times and durations of effects.
